| Village Hall Flooding Renovation Update After what appeared to be a very slow start to the renovation after Storm Daragh blew through, work has finally got underway. A new floor is going down throughout, with the added bonus of Kingspan insulation. The kitchen walls will be insulated and tiled. The committee are in the process of picking new kitchen units, kitchen tiles and paint. Every cloud has a silver lining!!!    | |||
| Village Hall AGM Tuesday 15th July @ 7.00pm Due to the storm damage suffered by the village hall, the annual AGM will now take place on Tuesday 15th July at 19.00 in the village hall Desperately THE VILLAGE HALL ^ NEEDS YOU In 2017 It was written into the village hall constitution that committee members would stay in post for a maximum of 3 years. Ensuring new members and new ideas. Due to many factors, Covid being the biggest factor, current members have now been in post for 7/8 years. All current members will stand down at the Annual AGM. The Village Hall is desperately in need of a Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, booking clerk and other committee members. According to the constitution, at the AGM committee members are required to stand down from the committee. Those willing to be on the committee can put their names forward to be re-elected Current members will stay on the committee to assist and help new members. Being on the committee involves some time and commitment but due to the number of events held the roles are not onerous, If committee posts are not filled there will be implications for the Village Hall. The hall can only run with a full complement of committee members. Lack of committee members could result in the village hall closing, any funds and assets held by the hall will be handed over to the Charity commission. The hall and the land it stands on will be handed back to the Charity commission. Losing the village hall after all the work recently carried out would be devastating for the villages | |||
| Possible Summer Show on Saturday 23rd August The committee are working and planning towards holding the village show in some guise, however this is on the proviso that new committee members and volunteers are recruited and the renovations in the hall are complete. We are looking for people to help out at the village show on the day, can you… Assist in putting up marquees and setting up the hall etc Help out on a tea and cake stall Organise and run a raffle Organise a Home made, home grown stall Help with judging Assist with children’s game Organise any other fundraising activity Any people willing to run an activity please let Nick and Alison know at Lavender Cottage Marton by post or call 01751 430746 | |||
